Medical Clerkships
The goal of our clerkships is to provide 3rd and 4th year medical students with an opportunity to practice clinical skills in a realistic family medicine setting.Objectives:
- Sharpen history taking and physical diagnosis skills in an outpatient or inpatient setting
- Practice medical decision making utilizing PDA and desktop support
- Learn to present cases to attendings and utilize consultants appropriately
- Understand the role of family medicine in the overall medical system
- Experience interaction and post-graduate medical education with family medicine residents
Requirements/Logistics for Either Clerkship
- Lodging may be available at no charge in the nurse dormitory on hospital grounds.
- It is necessary to have use of a car for the clerkship experiences.
- Fill out the application. Send copy of an up-to-date resume and USMLE score(s)
- If a non-Virginian student, your medical school must provide:
- Letter of approval of clerkship and indicating you are a student in good standing
- Proof of liability insurance carried by your medical school
- Performance evaluation process requirements
