Welcome to the Lynchburg Family Medicine Residency!
Established in 1975, the Lynchburg Family Medicine Residency is a single residency in a community based program affiliated with Centra Health and the University of Virginia. The Lynchburg Family Medicine Residency Curriculum gives the resident a solid base in a hospital-oriented practice while allowing the individual to develop proficiency in outpatient management skills.
Lynchburg is located at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Central Virginia. Enjoy plenty of activities such as white water rafting, canoeing, hiking, fishing, mountain biking, or simply exploring on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

New Faculty

Dr. Freed plans to join the residency faculty in January 2011. After graduation from the Medical College of Georgia in 1999, he completed his family medicine residency in 2002 at the Shenandoah Valley program in Front Royal/Winchester. He also earned a Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Alabama Birmingham in 1991. Since 2002, he has practiced family medicine, optometry and emergency medicine in the rural Virginia counties of Highland and Bath. He is married and has one son.
